昨日の情熱大陸は、京都大学 iPS細胞研究所の山中伸弥 教授でしたね。

同研究所が常日頃発信するポジティブな内容とは一変して、研究を続けるうえでの苦渋のドラマが描かれた30分でした。
（私の尊敬するナレーター「窪田等」さんの語りが、より前面に表してくれています。）
山中教授は、もともと医者だったのに、辞めて、研究者になられたんですね。
その理由は、「今治せない病気を将来治すため」
そして、たどり着いたIPS…
実用化させるには、「人材」と「研究費」、この二つを継続的に確保できるかどうかにかかっている
【課題】
1.研究所職員の大部分が有期雇用
現行のシステムだと5年後には人材が一掃されてしまう。
2.研究費の確保、常に寄付集め
安定した研究ができるよう、どこへ行っても頭を下げ寄付をお願いする
3.広く一般の方々にも知ってもらうため神戸マラソンにエントリーするなどの活動を展開
華やかに見えたノーベル賞受賞の場とは裏腹に、とっても苦労され、見る者を感慨深く引き付ける内容でした。
なかでも、私が最も感銘を受けたのは、
なぜ、米国でなく、日本で研究をするかということ。
米で研究開発を進めてしてしまうと、
１．日本の患者に治療薬・治療法を返せるのは、大幅に遅延する
２．日本に返せたとしても、高額な費用となって戻ってくる（患者を圧迫する）
Made in Japan for Japanese patients を重んじた誠意あふれる判断であると思料します。
正直、当番組を見るまで、「政府の後押しを受けた研究」、「パフォーマンス」といった先入観がありましたが、改めて、難病を治したいと願い、実現すべき夢として突き進む一人の有志を垣間見た次第です。
山中教授の研究を応援しています。
Yesterday we had a TV program in Japan named “Jjyonetsu-tairiku” that mean just kind like passion of continent.
The main character was Prof. Shinya Yamanaka, director of center for iPS Cell Research and Application Kyoto University.
(My viewership “Suimy-san” gave me this information. Glad to hear from her.)
The center often transmit the press release as positive action. But the program contains lots of difficulties he has to continue to research.
Prof. Yamanaka having been a doctor but he quit and to be a researcher.
The reason is that to cure in curable disease but it is impossible to cure now.
Finally, He found iPS Cell…
To prevail in the world, it is important that they can manage to continue “human resource” and “cost of research”
-Difficulties
- Most of stuff are the non-regular employees as fixed-term employees
This system must lead all changing after 5years.
2.To keep revenue of research he does collect contribution as donation
- To get more publicity, he need lots of actions such as enrolling Kobe marathon running
Novel prize was so brilliant but in actually he straggle so hard to prevail the medical approach.
Among the episode in this program., What I moved most was why he researches in Japan not US.
If he choose US to research, there are to be 2 difficulty for Japanese patients.
- It leads too much delay for them.
2.If back, it will be much more expensive fee to treat for them
He took it so important with sincerity that made in Japan for Japanese patients.
Honestly speaking, until watching the TV program I have a preoccupations such as using government power and performance, but I really saw a person who fights to cure incurable disease and to have to realize it and to proceed.
I do believe him with all my heart.
