水泳に続き砲丸投においても、多くの軟骨無形成症の選手がTOKYO2020パラリンピックに出場しています。
8月29日（日）（日本時間）に行われた男子砲丸投げF40(低身長)の決勝においては、Denis Gnezdilov (34=露)とGarrah Tnaiash（30=伊拉久）が世界新記録を塗り替える熾烈な争いが繰り広げられ、わずか1cmの差でDenisがキャリア初となる金メダルを獲得しました。
先に世界新記録を出したのはDenis選手でした。1投目でそれまでの記録を1cm更新し、5投目まで首位を維持しましたが、最後の6投目でGarrahが一気に13cm伸ばす11m15cmで世界記録を塗り替えました。しかし、その直後、Denisが更に世界記録を1cm上回る、11m16cmの新記録を残し、金メダルを手にしました。

It was Denis having set a new world record first. He broke the previous record by 1cm on the first pitch and maintained his lead until the fifth pitch, but on the last six pitches Garrah broke the world record with 11m15cm, which stretched by 13cm at once. However, Denis set a new record of 11m16cm, only the 1cm above the world record, and won the gold medal.
